22 weeks!
22!
That’s how long I was on bedrest with Maya. I tried my best to hold it together the first few days, but when you’ve already experienced a loss, your mind can’t help but to think of all of the things that could go wrong.
I was on the verge of a meltdown when a nurse walked into my hospital room and asked, “How are you doing today”? The question opened the floodgate of tears I was trying to dam.
She listened as I shared my concerns and then she took my hand, looked me in the eye and said, “Each day your baby is baking is a blessing. It puts you one step closer to your goal. So focus on being present. Talk to your baby, enjoy the moment and don’t spend too much energy on tomorrow… because ALL YOU HAVE IS TODAY ANYWAY!
It’s a mantra I repeat when I find myself trying to anticipate what’s next, especially these days!
ALL YOU HAVE IS TODAY ANYWAY.
It’s a reminder to stay present, stop trying to speed up the process, and to shift my focus to simply Dominating the Day; doing the 1-2 things that will move me forward. Repeating that approach each day inevitably gets me to where I go and creates the life I want to live; and my baby girl is a testament to that!
